Methodist-Presbyterian Nursery School began in 1972. First United Methodist Church and First Presbyterian Church joined to start a preschool for three and four year olds. The school is governed by a board made up of members from both churches. Currently, the chairperson of the board is Holly Lyle. The director of the school is Andrea Franklin.
The school's alphabet curriculum is called "Now I know my ABC's and a holw lot more" from O'Block books. The children learn their alphabet using puppets for each letter of the alphabet. They learn their other basics for preparing for "big" school as we call it along with learning the social skills needed.
We also teach Bible lessons to the children and we have the ministers of the two churches come and talk with the children about love for each other, God's love for us and other lessons the bible teaches us. They take turns each week and come during what we call "Small Talk".
We have a wonderful set of teachers. Miss Tammy (M-W-F) and Miss Tenille (T-Th) teach our 3 year old classes. Miss Jaime (T-Th) teachers our 3-4 year old class. Miss Andrea teachers our (M-W-F) 4 year old class and Miss Debbie teaches our 5 day a week 4 year old class.
Our M-W-F class tuition is $110. Our T-Th class tuition is $75. Our 5 day class tuition is $140. To register your child, call the First Presbyterian Church at 901-476-2434. There is a registration fee of $45.
